Anywhere the glass is the weak point. Retail storefronts, restaurants and bars, pharmacies, convenience stores, schools and community buildings, warehouses, and service bays and loading doors. The common factor is a large area of accessible glazing that is unattended overnight.

They remove the easiest way in. Most commercial break-ins are opportunistic and depend on breaking glass quickly and quietly; a closed shutter with reinforced slats and locking rails means the glass cannot be reached at all. It also changes the calculation for anyone assessing the premises from the street, which is a deterrent before an attempt is made.

Yes, and this is often the bigger day-to-day cost. A closed shutter takes the spray paint, the scratching and the impact instead of the storefront glass and framing. Replacing a large pane of commercial glazing is expensive and slow; cleaning or replacing a shutter section is neither.

Motorized operation from a wall switch, a handheld remote or a phone. Sun and wind sensors can be added. For premises with staff opening and closing at set times, motorized operation means it is a single action rather than a manual task at each opening.
